The Area
Within the department of the Correze you can go fishing, boating, canoeing,
walking, cycling, horse riding, pony trekking, visit wonderful medieval villages,
chateaux, or follow in the footsteps of Richard the Lionheart.
Correze is a lush & verdant department, and is known as the place of a thousand
rivers and also the lake district of France. A lot of the mentioned activities and
places to visit are within half an hours drive from us e.g. Vigeois, Uzerche, Coussac-Bonneval,
all places worth a visit for lakes, churches, or chateaux. Further afield you have
Collanges-la-Rouges with its Romanesque turrets and fine residences grouped around
the towns bell-tower, Saint-Robert is a charming, medieval village with a Romanesque
church and famed classical music festival in the summer. There are the half timbered
houses of Segur-le-Chateau clustered along the meandering banks of the Auvezere river,
all of this below the looming Chateau. This area of the Correze is an artists dream
so don’t forget to pack your painting and sketching implements.
